Recently, the World Bank has released an interactive data visualization tool called the Atlas of Sustainable Development Goals, which shows the world’s progress in achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals by collecting data from UN agencies around the world.
The world’s progress in realizing #SDG7 : Affordable and Clean Energy
Here you will see that the world’s access to electricity is actually very unequal, with 789 million people without access to electricity globally as of 2018. Although 90% of the world’s population have already had electricity access, which is a 8% rise compared to 2018, but rural areas comprise most of the world’s population lacking access to electricity, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The line of light you see links the country you have chosen to another country with a similar population density, so you can compare the difference in access to electricity for populations from both countries.
