【Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education】📖🎒
🌍2020 is coming to an end. Although the global focus this year is on the pandemic, the trends in other areas are also worthy of attention. According to the Center for Global Development, the 5 trends in global education in 2020 are as follows:
1⃣️Lead poisoning is harming the cognitive ability and educational opportunities of hundreds of millions of children.
2⃣️Investing earlier in the life of disadvantaged individuals did not appear to be more cost-effective than investing later on. Interventions at an older age can be just as successful.
3⃣️East Asian countries lead the world in both grade 4 math and science. The Philippines, Pakistan, and South Africa are among the worst performers on both grade 4 math and science.
4⃣️Due to the pandemic, the New York City mayor Bill de Blasio decided to eliminate all admissions screening into New York City middle schools and replace it with a lottery. de Blasio has called the new policy an experiment which could end selective schools and improve integration in the city for good.
5⃣️ A growing number of countries in the African Union have adopted laws and policies protecting adolescent girls’ right to continue their education following pregnancy.
